Organizational/Study Skills Coaching Services
Direct services will assess and teach your child skills in the following four areas:
- Organization at School - A place for notes and handouts, a system for transporting material between home and school, storage for materials not being used (binder/file, backpack and locker).
- Organization at Home - A place to do homework, a location for tools to complete work, and storage for work in progress or completed.
- Time Management - Strategies to learn how to plan, prioritize, and manage time for homework completion and long term assignments.
- Study Skills for Test Taking - Strategies for matching the type of information to learn to a certain study format and alternatives to practice information to aid in retention.
Academic Tutoring
Academic tutoring services are provided during 70 minute session once per week in you home or at the office. During the first session your child’s skills will be informally assessed and a plan will be developed. You will receive an e-mail of your child’s plan within a week of the first session. Behavior Management
Assist parents and students to identify most pertinent goals, develop behavioral contracts and behavior plans that can be carried out at home and in school, give parents specific strategies for working with their individual child/adolescent.
Child & Adolescent Counseling
Cognitive-behavioral counseling and play therapy; Specialize in helping students understand and accept their learning differences and other personal and social difficulties while guiding them toward developing positive coping and relaxation strategies, pro-social skills, and reasonable short and long-term goals for growth.
Parent Support Groups
Small support groups for parents to address the challenges of raising children, particularly those with special needs. Parents are given information and resources for their children who often share similar struggles. This group gives parents an opportunity to share concerns in a safe, supportive environment where they can problem-solve and generate effective strategies together.
Parent & School Consultation
Provide support and recommendations for students with special needs.
Psycho-educational Assessments
Evaluate students' intellectual, cognitive processing, social-emotional-behavioral, and academic functioning. Specific interventions are recommended with follow-up for parents and schools.
Sibling Support Groups
Small support groups for siblings of children and adolescents who have special needs, specifically those who are on the Autism Spectrum, have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, have significant learning disabilities, and/or have emotional & behavioral difficulties.
